This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious brand and communications professional to lead the brand and corporate communications strategy for a global financial services company. Apex is on an exceptional growth trajectory, having grown 10 x over the past two years, and requires an experienced brand and corporate communications lead to effectively deliver on its communications, corporate narrative and brand strategy.

Reporting to the CMO, you will be expected to provide direction for the company’s communication strategy and be responsible for managing a cross-border team of communications, brand, design and content professionals; coordinating the strategy for both internal and external communications globally. The role will be based in London and will be a critical member of the marketing and communications management team, responsible for planning, executing and tracking impactful communications for the Apex Group. You must be a results-driven, experienced and dynamic professional ready for a challenge.

Job Specification:

  • Responsible for Brand reputation and awareness, brand messaging and corporate narrative.
  • Take the Apex brand to the next level, with messaging, creative and storytelling that cuts through the noise and supports business objectives.
  • Build and activate audience-centric, integrated and persona led communications function across multiple channels and platforms.
  • Manage a cross-border team of communications, brand, design and content specialists and lead the brand and communications strategy for the Group and its sub-brands.
  • Build and execute against a clear editorial content programme, ensuring the fix mix of assets to deliver on strategic objectives.
  • Work closely with the Head of Demand Marketing, Head of Portfolio Marketing and Head of Media Relations to deliver integrated marketing and communications plans that drive growth.
  • Be the gatekeeper of the Group’s tone of voice, corporate narrative brand voice and visual brand.
  • Work with and manage our external creative agency to build innovative campaigns and assets to support our message.
  • Be accountable for reporting on success metrics against a clear set of KPIs to determine the progress of comms and brand strategies as part of a data-driven marketing team.
  • Define and execute on Brand Surveys and audits with the Brand Manager (your direct report) and continually monitor and improve brand sentiment.
  • Examine business needs and priorities to identify role of content and design and translate this into measureable initiatives and objectives.
  • Ensuring appropriate tracking and measurement is in place to deliver monthly and quarterly reports on brand sentiment, employee engagement and the overall success of the corporate communications strategy.
  • Occasionally work with external providers on key briefs to support the communications strategy and be responsible for strict budget management of these initiatives.
  • Provide campaign input and direction for reputation strategy and associated campaigns.
  • Oversight of the Group’s Social media strategy, growth and activation inclusive of LinkedIn, Glassdoor, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter
  • Own, develop and deliver employee advocacy programme.
  • Work with the Head of Digital to ensure all digital messages are delivering an integrated messaging strategy, inclusive of design elements and copy
  • Conduct Market research to support any require projects or initiatives and keep update with the latest trends and best practices
  • Lead the development, implementation and review of an effective digital-first content and editorial, design and brand management strategies, ensuring integration across all relevant channels.
  • Manage and provide oversight for the corporate content strategy and calendar.
  • Drive and deliver oversight of the internal communications strategy, culture programmes and employee engagement and report on KPI’s.
  • Manage and evolve the Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility (“CSR”) profile to support its role as an ESG leader
  • Be involved in and collaborate on all initiatives related to CSR, employer brand, PR and corporate messaging
  • Provide mentoring and development support for your team upskilling them in areas required
  • Minimum 8 years in a B2B brand and communications roles.
  • You yourself are an outstanding copywriter and highly articulate, setting the standard for excellent writing, editorial and graphic design skills within your team.
  • Able to demonstrate a track record in building brand narratives that inspire both employees and the market.
  • A team player that will be happy working in a relatively flat structured and agile team where everyone has to roll up their sleeves up.
  • Growth minded and works well under pressure, you will enjoy a fast-paced environment and delivering on requirements.
  • Management experience of a minimum of three or more people.
  • Excellent standard of written English with related qualifications.
  • Expert knowledge of branding and communications strategies, preferably for global companies
  • An empathetic leader who likes to both coach and empower their team to contribute to business and strategic goals.
  • An excellent communicator and natural storyteller able to craft engaging messages for any communications requirement.
  • A ruthless prioritiser, able to execute on multiple objectives at once while ensuring key milestones are reached in a timely manner.
  • Experience in the financial services space banking/fintech/professional services is a must.
  • Proven experience in successful compiling, developing and executing on brand and communications strategy in line with business strategy.
  • Marketing, literature or business related degree and ideally with evidence of post-graduate study or professional qualifications such as SIM/IDM.
  • A high level of visibility within a large organisation on an upwards trajectory
